SPUFT is an official full member of CILECT, which is the largest international association of cinema, audiovisual and media schools.

David's film What Happened Before the Guests Had Arrived won the first prize in the Short Film category at the Echo BRICS Film Festival.

The film script was selected last autumn at the IV Russian-Chinese pitching of student synopses for film, television and new media "ONEFUTURE". The event was organised by SPUFT, Jilin Animation Institute (Jilin City, China) and SILK ROAD MEDIA production centre.

On 29 July, Natalia Gorina, Head of the Department of Film and Television Production, held a meeting with Evelyn Mutsvanvgwa, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation of the Republic of Zimbabwe, who was the representative of the official Zimbabwean delegation at the Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum held in St. Petersburg on 27-28 July 2023.

On May 15, a solemn meeting of foreign guests took place at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. Students and teachers from Hainan Normal University were welcomed by representatives of the university. As part of the foreign delegation, Secretary of the Committee of the Youth Union Cai Ting and acting teacher Ruan Yongchen visited St. Petersburg.

The world premiere of the film Aykuo by Ayaal Adamov took place within the framework of the Busan International Short Film Festival. The film is the graduation work of the student of Alexander Sokurov's class of the Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television.

The grand opening of the IX International Film Festival of Student Works of Sound Engineers "INtonations" took place at the Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television. More than 500 applications from 22 countries were submitted to the Festival, 69 works are included in the competition program.

The IX International Film Festival of Student Works by Sound Engineers INtonations has set a new record for the number of applications for participation. In total, the organizers received 576 works, of which 114 came from Russian film schools and 462 from foreign ones.

February 9 , 2023 3rd year student of group 1061 Binhao Quan under the scientific supervision of Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages A. Oskina made a report at the XXVII International Research and Practice Conference "The service of practical psychology in the education system: the personality and activity of a teacher-psychologist in the modern educational space".

On February 27, the delegation of the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture met with Rector of the St. Petersburg University of Film and Television, Alexander Babayan.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India thanked the representatives of SPUFT for participating in the conference "Philology in the Modern World: a view from Russia and India". As part of the event, a special screening of short films by students of SPUFT and MGIK was held at Jawaharlal Nehru University (India).

Anastasia Semeshina, a 2nd-year student of the Advertising and Public Relations department of the Faculty of Television, Design and Photography, successfully passed the selection for the international advertising festival Cannes Lions organized by the Roger Hatchuel student academy. The festival will take place on June 19-24, 2022 in Cannes (France).

On March 24, 2022 head teacher at the Foreign Languages Department Anna Oskina and a 2nd year student Binhao Quan made a joint presentation at the III Interregional Research-To-Practice Conference Modern Multicultural Education titled "Foreign language learning classes as an instrument of the internal internationalization and socialization of foreign students". The conference was held as part of the 2022 Saint Petersburg International Educational Forum.

On January 20, 2022, representatives of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television held negotiation within the framework of the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2018, with the representatives of the Jilin Institute of Animation.

International students of SPUFT took part in the International Contest of Student Scientific Papers dedicated to the bicentennial of F.M. Dostoevsky. The contest was held by Vologda State University from October 11 to November 11, 2021. More than 90 students from various Russian universities participated in it.

18-21 of October 2021 Sino-Russian Week of Arts and Culture was held in Beijing. It was organized by the Alliance of Sino-Russian Arts and Culture Universities.

On September 23, 2021, representatives of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television held negotiation within the framework of the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2021, with Akshay Marwah, Chief Executive Officer of AAFT University of Audiovisual Arts, and Albeena Abbas, Director Academics of the AAFT University of Audiovisual Arts (India).

Polina Volynkina won the Nika Film Award. The sound designer received the main prize from the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science for her work on Andrei Konchalovsky's film Dear Comrades!

On April 8, at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, Australian film director, producer Robert Klenner gave a lecture "Constructing Screen Character".

The graduation work of director Timur Dubro (workshop of Victor Vasiliev) was selected for the competition programme of the 11th Pune Short Film Festival (India). Duel tells a story about the enmity of twin brothers who have very different outlooks on life.

In March, one of the most significant film festivals in the world takes place - the Berlinale. This year, it is divided into two parts. Now the events are taking place online, but in June there is a hope to hold events for a wide audience offline. A full-length film from Russia, "The Fisherman's Daughter", directed by Uldus Bakhtiozina, was selected for the main competition programme. The selection committee of the Berlin International Film Festival got interested in this surreal story, based on Slavic tales and myths. The executive producer of the film is Maria Pavlova, a student of the Faculty of Screen Arts, Department of Film and Television Producing, St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, group 3661.

On February 27, 2021, the representatives of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and Purbanchal Institute of Film and Television (Nepal) held talks.

In early February, the graduate of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television Kmel Ntsama finished the production of his film "Liza" in one of the filming pavilions of the Lenfilm film studio. Ilya Severov, a director and a graduate of St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, is the creative producer of the project.

Konstantin Glasman, a head of the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, was elected a member of SMPTE (the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) Board of Governors and a Regional Governor of EMEA, Central and South America Region.

On December 21, 2020 the meeting between St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and NGO Generation Bridge Foundation was organised.

On December 15, 2020, the Institute of Youth Policy and International Relations of RTU MIREA organised an online Russian-Japanese Youth Exchange Seminar. The Institute is a coordination bureau of Russian-Japanese youth exchanges in Russia.

On December 14, 2020, the meeting between the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and the Chinese-Russian Centre for Industrial Technology Exchange and Cooperation was organised.
