The winners of "PeterKiT" began to cooperate with production companies
During the "PeterKiT" International Student Film Festival, several production competitions were held, as well as the first international Russian-Chinese pitching ONEFUTURE, which allowed SPUFT and CUC (Communication University of China) students to present their projects to a professional jury. Summing up the festival, representatives of production companies handed special prizes to the winners.
It is impossible to make a high-quality film without technical equipment. Sometimes a good idea and an ambitious film crew is not enough to bring all ideas to life. In matters of searching and using professional equipment, students are very inventive: they receive support from the university, launch crowdfunding projects, and invite people from outside. Realizing how hard this is, the members of the production jury of "PeterKiT" presented several special prizes to the laureates of the festival.
Aleksey Snezhko, winner in the nomination “Best Producer Work”, got the opportunity to make his next film on the site provided by Triix Media Studio. The novice producer thanked his masters and said what he would spend his prize on:
– The film "Mad Dog", which we presented at PeterKiT, is my graduation project. This is a comedy. It was exciting to show it to a wide audience, but when we heard laughter in the hall, we realized that everything was going well. I would like to thank my diploma supervisor Polina Alekseeva, my master Nadezhda Sabelnikova and dean of the Faculty of Screen Arts Pavel Danilov. They helped, supported, taught. Without them, I would not have been able to get such an offer from Sergei Scheglov, a representative of Triix Media, which I will definitely use in the future. Now our film crew has begun work on a new project that requires professional equipment. This will be a post apocalyptic fantastic war drama, the main characters of which will be two children.
4th year student Maria Vasilyeva presented her project "Spassky. Match of the Century" at the first international Russian-Chinese pitching ONEFUTURE. This is a biography film about the 10th world chess champion, Boris Spassky. In 1972, the Soviet champion played a game with American grandmaster Bobby Fisher. Journalists called this match "Match of the Century". The project is of particular importance to Maria because Boris Spassky is her grandfather. At the closing ceremony of the festival, a member of the production jury, a representative of the Horosho Production center, Natalya Ivanova, noted this film and promised that she would help Mary complete the project. The student shared the emotions received from the performance at the pitching and noted the importance of holding festivals such as PeterKiT:
– This year the festival was especially generous in producing contests and pitches. For novice producers this is a great opportunity to present their projects, get an assessment from professionals and gain experience. Pitching also allows you to look at the movie from a different angle, it helps to understand what and how to refine. Thanks a lot to the organizers of the festival, members of the jury, participants! Visiting such events, one involuntarily understands that people are not indifferent to the fate of domestic cinema.
The special prize of the production jury was received by Margarita Godovikova’s documentary “By my eyes”. The story of a small artist with autism struck to the core of the jury and the audience. As a result of the festival, Margarita received five shifts of editing and color correction in the Artel studio. The novice producer emphasized that there were no mediocre works at the competition, all projects deserved attention:
– "PeterKiT" opens the door to the world of student cinema. Thanks to this festival, we can not only exchange experiences, show our own films, but also discuss projects sent from other cities and countries, join groups, communicate and learn from those who have long been working in the film industry. I was surprised that the jury noted my work as the projects of other guys were really strong and interesting. It was interesting for me to listen to them, not only from the point of view of a novice producer, but also from the point of view of a potential audience.
And one more good news. Since the new year 2020, the Channel of the Council of Federations Together-RF and our university have launched the joint project “New Look”, where students can show their documentary works.
We congratulate the winners and participants of the XIX International Student Film Festival “PeterKiT” and encourage all students to participate in such events!
