St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television officially became a member of the UArctic
At the II UArctic Congress 2018 which was held on September 3-7 in Finland St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television was officially accepted as a member of this international network of universities, colleges, research institutes and other organizations involved in education and research in the North.
UArctic is an international project that unites today more than 200 educational and research institutions involved in research of the Arctic region. Universities that have joined the UArctic network have the opportunity to use all the resources, services and research of each other to create higher education programs that are relevant and accessible to students and teachers.
Speeches by candidates and their acception to UArctic are annually held in September as part of the UArctic Congress. This year the event took place on September 3-7, 2018 in the Finnish city of Oulu. St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television was presented to the commission by Liisa Holmberg, Rector of the Sami Region (Finland) Education Center. She first spoke about UArctic and invited SPUFT to join this international project at a meeting with the rector of St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television Alexander Evmenov.
Sometime after the II UArctic Congress, SPUFT received a letter signed by UArctic Vice President Osti Snelman, which officially confirms the membership of our institute in UArctic.
St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television is very grateful to the rector of the Sami Region Education Center Liisa Holmberg for successfully representing SPUFT at the II UArctic Congress 2018, Marina Falevich, coordinator of the international work at Sami Region Education Center for operational consultations on accession issues in UArctic and responsiveness, as well as Pierre-André, director of support services at the international secretariat UArctic for helping to fill out the online application of SPUFT.
