Students of SPUFT took 3rd place in the international video production competition 2019
In May 2019, the WS Production team won the urban phase of the International video production competition and was declared a third-degree winner at the World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities in Krakow, Poland. The team included students of St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television, Alexander Tereshchenko and Maria Berezkina, and curator of the project, Kirill Tikhonov.
On May 24, at the Palace of the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich (House of Scientists named after Maxim Gorky of the Russian Academy of Sciences), the winners and laureates of youth programs of the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Monuments of History and Culture was solemnly awarded. Students of the University of Film and Television participated in the video contest “If You Had One Day in the World Heritage City”. The video work "St. Petersburg is ..." was sent to the competition. According to the rules, in a video lasting no more than 5 minutes, it was necessary to talk about the most beautiful and significant places in St. Petersburg that you can visit in one day.
This event was the municipal stage of the international video competition, the final of which was to take place on June 3 in Krakow during the World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities. The work of university students was reviewed by experts and recognized as the best student video work of the competition program. Having become the winner of the city stage of the competition, the WS Production team got the opportunity to take part in the international stage.
Video "St. Petersburg is ... " was successfully shown at the XV World Congress in Krakow and was declared a third-degree winner in the age group of 18 to 21 in the presence of members of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) and the Secretary-General of the Organization. Kirill Tikhonov, a founder of the WS Production project, spoke about his impressions:
– This victory is important both for us and for the image of the university. As a curator of the project, I am very glad that the first independent work of students won such high awards at the international competition. I believe that the participation of students in such projects favourably affects their creative development. I wish you not to stop there and to prove yourself as often as possible!
On September 29, Mr Denis Ricard, Secretary-General of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), met with youth from St. Petersburg in New Holland.
The meeting was attended by young museum specialists, representatives of universities related to the study of cultural heritage, students of UNESCO departments and volunteer organizations of St. Petersburg. The children were greeted by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the State Protection of Monuments of History and Culture of the Government of St. Petersburg Alexey Mikhailov.
As part of the meeting, Mr Rickard handed the diploma to a student at St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television, Alexander Tereshchenko, who took third place in the 5th edition of the international video production competition organized by OWHC in 2019.
