Students of our University took part in the VIII Nevsky International Ecological Congress
Students of the Chair of Journalism visited the plenary session of the VIII Nevsky International Ecological Congress, held in the Duma Hall of the Tauride Palace. More than 2 thousand people from 36 countries took part in the events of the congress.
At meetings and round tables, the issues of environmental protection and improving the effectiveness of environmental education were discussed. Thematic actions, excursions to specially protected natural areas were held. The mission of the Congress was to promote the formation of an international system of environmental safety.
The presenter of the plenary session, chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko in her speech noted: "Ensuring environmental safety is one of the leading state priorities today."
Welcoming speech of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was read by Plenipotentiary of the President in the North-West Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov.
The Governor of St. Petersburg, Georgy Poltavchenko, in his speech noted that St. Petersburg regularly takes part in international environmental projects: "Earth Hour", "Clean Coast", "A Day Without a Car", "All-Russian Forest Planting Day," a festival of energy saving.
The reports were made by the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kovkhuto, as well as the representatives of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Madagascar, Greece.
Students especially remembered the space bridge with the students of Dmitry Karbyshev Moscow Ecological School No. 354. Direct inclusion took place from the space center of the school, opened in 2001. In this center, students are engaged in space and environmental monitoring, identify unauthorized rubbish dumps and note them to a map of the Moscow region.
The Nevsky International Ecological Congress has been held in St. Petersburg since 2008 and is a unique platform for strengthening international relations in the sphere of ensuring environmental safety.
